The course explains all major commercial and regulatory aspects of the CCUS business model from the perspective of an integrated petroleum company. It will equip participants with the knowledge of international developments for CCUS projects and will be very useful in the context of the roll out of CCUS regulations in Indonesia, introduction of CCUS-specific provisions into fiscal terms for petroleum contracts, and the role of CCUS in the implementation of the carbon pricing system in Indonesia as well as other jurisdictions in the region.

The course will explain how CCUS projects can be financed, how they can be monetised and what countries are doing to regulate and support the CCUS deployment. All of the existing support measures and policies directions will be covered.

The course will discuss all of the major issues and policies for integration of CCUS into petroleum operations. It will help companies to identify the matters which will need to be addressed in Indonesia, such as relations between petroleum operations and CCUS, fiscal provisions for petroleum taxation (cost recovery in PSCs, tax deductibility for tax, provisions for decommissioning and post-closure activities), integration of CCUS projects into future Indonesia carbon pricing system, potential support measures for CCUS, how CO services to third parties should be integrated under the petroleum taxation, CCUS licensing regime, and many other issues.The utilisation of captured CO will cover all key applications with particular focus on the low-carbon hydrogen projects and the use in CO in enhanced oil and gas recovery.
